My journal entry was all old, so here's an update although I have nothing of substance to say. It's funny, because my head is always swirling with ideas and notions for images, but I can never manage to give voice to those ideas and talk about them until after they've come together in an image. People always ask me where I get my inspiration from, the best I can do is a list...

Other artists

Mostly it's just things I see out of the corner of my eye, things I don't see quite right and I let my imagination run with them.

I have recently found a few instances of people using my imagery as stock here on DA and elsewhere.

All rights are reserved on my artwork. You may use them for inspiration or save a copy because you like the image, but please don't alter, manipulate and repost any of my work, anywhere, ever.

Save it, look at it, show it to your friends, post it on Pinterest, feature it, use it as your wallpaper, print a small version for yourself or a friend. You can even post it other places if you give me a credit somewhere. If you want to use it for something outside of DA, just send me a note. As long as it's not being used commercially, and if it's credited and unaltered, I'll probably say yes.

Just don't alter it and/or claim it as your own.  Don't do that with anyone's artwork unless they offer it to you for that exact purpose.

I got a DD for Haiku! (happy dance)

For a simple composition, the render was really pretty complex. The leaves on the tree are actual geometry, and are all translucent, the wall in the back uses displacement texturing, the floor is subsurface scattered, It's radiosity environment with 2 additional suns and a third spotlight... All in all this 'simple' render took a full day to crank out on my 4 PC render farm, and that was just screen resolution.

The room was in a dream I had - I get a lot of inspiration from my dreams. In the dream there was a glass window there, painted over and closed so I couldn't see through it. When I went to open it, the whole window fell away and all I could see beyond it was sky. That's all I remember of the dream, but it was enough to inspire the image.

Thanks everyone for your comments and appreciation!
